Navi Mumbai
Conceived and developed in 1972, Navi Mumbai is a planned township on the mainland across the harbour from Mumbai. It was built to decongest Mumbai and provide an option to the lakhs of people migrating to the city since the seventies.
Navi Mumbai today is administered by the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO), which is responsible for the development and maintenance of the city.
Some of the prominent nodes of Navi Mumbai include: Airoli, Ghansoli, Koparkhairane, Vashi, Sanpada, Nerul, CBD Belapur, Kharghar, Kamothe, New Panvel, Kalamboli, Ulwe, Dronagiri and Taloja.
Forty-five percent of the land at Navi Mumbai is reserved for green zones and open-to-sky activities. The city boasts of world-class infrastructure and excellent healthcare facilities. It’s also the only Indian city to feature commercial complexes built over railway stations like Vashi and CBD Belapur.
Navi Mumbai offers direct access to most parts of the country via a well-developed road and rail network. It is a favoured destination among buyers and investors looking for cheaper real estate options vis-à-vis the more expensive Mumbai.

Transport & Infra:
Navi Mumbai is extensively covered by the Mumbai suburban railway network. The most important suburban stations are Vashi, Nerul, Belapur & Panvel. Panvel is the only mainline station and also the busiest railway station of Navi Mumbai. BEST and NMMT buses travel all across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane and the Kalyan-Dombivli-Badlapur belt.
The 10 km long Palm Beach Road of six-lane connects Vashi to CBD Belapur running parallel to the creek. The Chatrapati Shivaji International Airport, 30 km away, is the nearest airport.
Proposed developments here include a new international airport at Panvel, a SEZ and a six-lane bridge between Vikhroli and Koparkhairane for better connectivity to Mumbai.
