The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority disclosed the outcomes of its eagerly awaited 2025 housing lottery on October 11, revealing that the housing body had allocated 5,354 affordable residential units alongside 77 residential plots across the state through its Konkan board initiatives.
According to the announcement, the allocated properties span multiple regions including Thane city, Thane district, and Vasai within Palghar, while the residential plots are situated in Oros in Sindhudurg and Kulgaon-Badlapur areas. The housing schemes under this lottery draw were designed to serve diverse income segments, ranging from economically weaker sections to lower and middle-income groups, including scattered flats managed by the Konkan Board.
Record-Breaking Applicant Participation
The lottery witnessed unprecedented participation with the authority receiving a total of 1,84,994 applications. Among these, 1,58,424 applicants had completed the mandatory earnest deposit submission. Industry experts suggest this overwhelming response reflects the persistent demand for affordable housing across Maharashtra.
Strategic Distribution Across Multiple Schemes
The housing authority organized the distribution through five distinct categories to address varied housing requirements. The Comprehensive Housing Scheme, representing 20 percent of the total allocation, offered 565 units. The Integrated City Housing Scheme, comprising 15 percent, provided the largest share with 3,002 units. The Konkan Board and scattered flats category included 1,746 units, while the Affordable Housing segment at 50 percent contributed 41 units. Additionally, 77 residential plots were made available for allocation.
This structured approach demonstrates the authority's commitment to serving different economic strata across various geographical zones, particularly in the Thane and Palghar regions.
Government's Ambitious Housing Roadmap
During the results announcement ceremony, state government representatives outlined their long-term vision for housing development. Officials revealed plans to construct between 30 to 35 lakh new affordable residential units over the next five years, supported by an estimated investment corpus of ₹50 lakh crore.
The lottery draw was broadcast live on various social media platforms, ensuring transparency in the selection process. The complete list of successful applicants has been published on the housing authority's official website. Winners are scheduled to receive confirmation notifications via SMS on their registered mobile numbers.
As the allocated homes and plots advance toward the handover and construction phases, this lottery represents another significant milestone in the state's ongoing efforts to deliver inclusive, large-scale affordable housing solutions. The development aligns with MHADA's broader transformation plans for Mumbai's housing landscape.
