Northbound Coastal Road Span Nears Completion

Mumbai's infrastructure milestone is reaching its final stages as the penultimate span of the northbound Mumbai Coastal Road prepares for installation, linking it seamlessly with the Bandra-Worli Sea Link (BWSL). Departing from Karanja Port in Navi Mumbai, this 44-meter bridge span arrived in Worli on Monday, ready for placement on Tuesday, with Wednesday reserved as a backup.

Final Span Installation to Follow

Following the installation of the 44-meter segment, a 60-meter final span will complete the connection. "Once the barge completes this phase, it will transport the last 60-meter span," a civic official reported, aiming for full connectivity by next weekend.

Key Milestone in Mumbai's Transport Network

With the upcoming completion, both the northbound and southbound lanes will finally provide seamless access between the Coastal Road and BWSL, enhancing traffic flow across Mumbai’s coastal arteries.

A Phased Approach for Connectivity

The northbound connector to the sea link, launched on September 12 and open to traffic since September 13, allows smooth transit from the coastal road to BWSL. However, for those traveling from BWSL toward Marine Drive, adjustments remain, requiring a detour before accessing the coastal road directly.

Mumbai Coastal Road Nears Full Launch Since its initial opening in March 2024, the Mumbai Coastal Road has seen phased activation, with the completion of this connector marking a significant milestone toward full commissioning.
