Mumbai is addressing its severe parking challenges with robotic multilevel parking and expanded on-street parking options. A 14-story robotic parking tower is under construction in Mumbadevi, alongside similar projects in Worli, Matunga, and Hutatma Chowk. These facilities, along with 500 on-street locations, aim to cater to the city’s burgeoning vehicle count, now exceeding 4.3 million.

Smart Parking for a Growing City

Mumbai is tackling its parking woes head-on with cutting-edge robotic and on-street parking solutions. The BMC has initiated projects in key locations like Worli, Matunga, Hutatma Chowk, and Mumbadevi, where a groundbreaking 14-story robotic parking facility is already under construction.

Parking Crisis in Numbers

Mumbai's vehicle count has skyrocketed to over 4.3 million, doubling from 2 million in 2011-12.

Existing parking capacities are insufficient, with only 11,500 vehicles accommodated in on-street parking and 28,500 in multilevel facilities.

New Parking Innovations

Robotic Multilevel Parking:

Facilities at Mumbadevi, Worli, Matunga, and Hutatma Chowk will accommodate 1,837 vehicles.

Mumbadevi alone will host 546 cars in a 14-story structure.

On-Street Parking Expansion: 500 new on-street parking locations are being added across the city, managed via mobile app technology for ease of use.

Bridging the Gap in Infrastructure

With metro expansions and other developments consuming valuable road space, BMC's new parking initiatives are a timely intervention. These steps aim to reduce traffic congestion and provide structured solutions for Mumbai's growing vehicle population.
