The Department of Town and Country Planning in Gurugram has initiated a comprehensive enforcement operation targeting unauthorised constructions erected by Resident Welfare Associations across group housing societies. Officials reported that the crackdown addresses violations of the Haryana Apartment Ownership Act and building bylaws, where illegal structures had been constructed in common areas without proper approvals.

First Demolition Action Targets Religious Structure

DTCP officials conducted their initial enforcement action at Suncity Avenue in Sector 102, where they demolished an illegal makeshift structure that had been utilised for religious activities. The department confirmed that the action followed formal complaints from society members, a thorough verification process, and the subsequent issuance of a demolition order by the district town planner.

Widespread Violations Identified Across Multiple Societies

The enforcement drive has uncovered similar violations across various other residential societies throughout Gurugram's residential developments, including unauthorised sheds and commercial facilities that encroach upon shared community spaces. DTCP authorities indicated that these structures were erected without obtaining necessary permissions from relevant authorities.

Government Administrator Appointment Warning Issued

The DTCP has issued stern warnings to RWAs, stating that continued misuse of powers could result in the appointment of government-appointed administrators to oversee their operations. This measure aims to ensure compliance with established regulations and protect residents' rights within group housing societies across Gurugram.

Expanded Task Force Initiative Planned

Beyond immediate enforcement actions, the DTCP announced plans for a broader task force initiative involving district authorities to monitor RWA conduct and prevent further encroachments. Officials confirmed that inspections and spot checks would intensify in the coming weeks to safeguard residents' rights and maintain approved layouts.

DTCP representatives noted that residents have largely welcomed these interventions and urged that similar regulations be enforced across all group housing societies throughout the city. The department emphasised its commitment to ensuring that property buyers' rights are protected and that approved building standards are maintained.
