Maharashtra Housing Department has issued a comprehensive Government Resolution outlining the Slum Cluster Redevelopment Scheme (SCRS), targeting five lakh rehabilitation tenements by 2030 through a streamlined, cluster-based approach that eliminates ownership restrictions.

MMRDA and SRA have launched the ₹8,498 crore redevelopment of Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar and Kamraj Nagar in Ghatkopar—Mumbai's largest slum rehabilitation project spanning 31.8 hectares with over 17,000 homes, marking a transformative milestone in inclusive urban development.

The Slum Rehabilitation Authority has set an ambitious target of delivering 5.09 lakh new homes for slum dwellers by 2030, more than double the total built in the past 29 years.

The government wants to develop 2 lakh homes in Mumbai and Pune within three years, transforming the housing markets. This ambitious plan seeks to eliminate Mumbai slums, increase MHADA lottery possibilities, and revive SRA projects.
