The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has announced a temporary closure of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri-Nhava Sheva Sea Bridge, commonly known as Atal Setu, to accommodate the MMRDA Atal Setu L&T Marathon.

The bridge, which connects Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, will remain off-limits to general traffic from 11 PM on Saturday, January 15, until 1 PM on Sunday.

Authorities have stated that the closure is necessary to facilitate the smooth conduct of the marathon, which will take place between 4 AM and noon on Sunday, spanning the entire 21 km stretch from Sewri in Mumbai to Chirle in Navi Mumbai. Only emergency vehicles and those directly involved in the event will be permitted access to the bridge during this period.

The Navi Mumbai Traffic Police have issued an advisory urging commuters traveling towards Navi Mumbai, Pune, and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) to opt for alternative routes, including the Sion-Panvel Highway and Thane-Belapur Road. Given the expected surge in traffic, authorities have warned of possible delays. Traffic personnel and MMRDA officials will be stationed at key locations to manage diversions and assist commuters.

MMRDA Atal Setu L&T Marathon isn’t just a marathon—it’s a testament to human endurance and Mumbai’s indomitable spirit. The Atal Bihari Vajpayee Trans Harbour Link transforms into a 42-kilometer battleground, where every stride defies limits and every heartbeat echoes resilience. With the sea wind at your back and the city skyline ahead, this course isn’t just a path—it’s a journey through innovation, perseverance, and transformation. To run here is to be part of history, to push beyond, and to emerge changed.
