The ambitious Metro-8 project, connecting Mumbai and Navi Mumbai airports, promises to cut down travel time from the current two hours by road to just 30 minutes. Designed as a 35-km Nearport Express Line, it aims to cater to over nine lakh passengers daily, making it a game-changer for commuters and travelers alike.

1. Faster and Smarter Connectivity

Metro-8 will reduce travel time between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai airports to just 30 minutes, operating at a speed of 90 km/h—significantly faster than existing metro lines.

2. Dual Route Design

The 35 km-long corridor will feature both underground and elevated sections, with a total of eight strategically located stations.

3. Collaborative Effort

The project is a joint initiative between MMRDA and CIDCO, with construction costs totaling ₹15,000 crore.

4. High Passenger Capacity

The Metro-8 line will accommodate over nine lakh passengers daily, easing traffic congestion and boosting airport connectivity.

5. Operational Timeline

While the Navi Mumbai Airport will be operational by May 2025, Metro-8 is expected to commence operations by October 2026.
