Matheran to See Resumption in Pilot E-rickshaw Operations Soon

The administration of the Raigad district has directed that the e-rickshaw demonstration project be resumed as soon as possible. Activists and Matheran residents have demanded that the proprietors of hand-pulled rickshaws be retrained as e-rickshaw drivers. 

In addition to receiving training, they have also obtained RTO licences. The state government may proceed with the e-rickshaw demonstration project at the hill station until further directives, in accordance with the most recent Supreme Court (SC) order.

Nevertheless, a resolution regarding the assimilation of handcart and hand-pulled rickshaw proprietors who have obtained licences to operate e-rickshaws has yet to be reached.
