The Union Cabinet has extended the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) till December 2024. This decision, announced in an official statement, extends the June 2015 plan. The original March 2022 'Housing for All' Mission aims to provide pucca dwellings to all qualified urban inhabitants.

The state government of Jammu and Kashmir has set a goal of completing one lakh developmental works and constructing 54,000 dwellings under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) during the fiscal year 2022-23

PMAY (Urban) is built for people living in urban centers across the world, including slum dwellers, to be affordable in terms of accommodation. It is anticipated that demand for slum houses will reach up to 18 million by 2022.
