With a landmark verdict, a Mumbai consumer commission ordered a development company to pay purchaser Neela Pawar with INR 8.5 lakh and return INR 7.5 lakh for failing to get licences for a Kandivli redevelopment project. This ruling shows the consequences of unlicensed redevelopment.

Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate reform (MoEFCC) made a major reform to balance development with animal protection. Large projects in protected areas now need forest permissions before wildlife clearances.

All essential permissions will be given within three months using a single-window certification system, and these projects will be completed by self-regulation procedures.
