Mumbai's BMC is reportedly finalising a policy to grant long-pending Occupation Certificates to thousands of housing societies — a move that could resolve years of compliance uncertainty and unlock redevelopment opportunities across the city.

The Maharashtra government has launched a special amnesty scheme to regularise nearly 20,000 buildings in Mumbai lacking Occupation Certificates, offering penalty waivers and 50% premium discounts to over 10 lakh affected residents.
