Bengaluru: The civic administration in Bengaluru is enforcing a strict five-day service level agreement for the electronic issuance of property documentation, known as the Bengaluru e-khata mandate. Ninety-nine percent of all received applications are now being resolved within the four-to-five-day window established by the governing body. Any delay beyond this established period automatically triggers system clearance, preventing indefinite procedural stagnation.
Streamlining Bengaluru E-Khata Processing Timelines
The municipal authority has implemented a digital trigger mechanism intended to eliminate administrative bottlenecks that previously stalled documentation requests. This proactive measure ensures that property owners can receive their necessary digital certificates as the digital shift brings transparency without undue delay. The fully automated system is designed to enforce accountability within the administrative workflow.
The introduction of this digitized service in October 2024 aimed to substitute cumbersome paper-based ownership records maintained by the former Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike. This overhaul supports quicker property transfers and ensures more properties are eligible for digital records for all stakeholders. The objective was to expedite the certification process, which previously promised issuance within 48 hours for correctly filed paperwork.
| Metric | Reported Detail (March 2026) |
|---|---|
| Processing Efficiency | 99% of applications finalized in 4–5 days |
| Automation Trigger | Auto-approval initiated after 5 working days |
| Digital Issuance Start |
