Metro Project Milestone Reached

After several delays and controversies, Mumbai’s long-awaited first underground metro line is now ready. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially inaugurate the first phase of this metro line, covering a 12.5 km stretch between Aarey and BKC, this Saturday. The new metro route will significantly reduce travel time, allowing passengers to complete the journey from Aarey to BKC in just 22.30 minutes, compared to the current travel time of about one hour.

10 Stations to Enhance Connectivity

To ensure convenience for commuters, the 12.5 km stretch will feature 10 strategically located stations. Metro services will operate daily from 6:30 AM to 10:30 PM, with 96 trips scheduled throughout the day. Ticket prices will range from ₹10 to ₹50 depending on the distance traveled, offering an affordable and efficient mode of transport.

Prime Minister’s Journey and Interaction with Beneficiaries

Following the official flag-off at BKC Station, the Prime Minister will travel by metro to Santacruz. During this journey, he will interact with beneficiaries of the Ladli Behna Scheme, including students and workers. The Prime Minister will also launch the "Metro ConnectU" app, which will allow passengers to purchase metro tickets online, further enhancing the convenience of using the metro system.

Public Access Expected Soon

Despite the inaugural ceremony, general passengers may need to wait an additional one or two days before they can start traveling on the metro. Public access is expected to begin from Monday, allowing commuters to enjoy the benefits of this new transport service. The metro’s full service along the entire route is planned to be operational by mid-2025.
