Brigade Foundation, a 'not-for-profit trust' of Brigade Group, and BCIC have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish Brigade-BCIC Skill Development Academy — a Centre of Excellence with state-of-the-art facilities on a 5-acre plot of land at Aerospace Park, Bangalore North.

The Brigade Foundation was created in 2003 to make significant contributions to society in the fields of education, health, and community development, according to Jaishankar, a trustee of the organisation. Having established three renowned 'The Brigade Schools', co-founded the Indian Music Experience Museum, and is in the process of establishing a 100-bed hospital with St. John's Hospital, Brigade Foundation has partnered with BCIC to establish Brigade- BCIC Skill Development Academy with a focus on construction, hospitality & tourism, manufacturing, and retail.

The majority of the 11 lakh skilled labour shortfall in Karnataka is concentrated in these four industries. In addition to satisfying the requirements of the sectors, the project intends to make a positive contribution to the lives of jobless and underemployed individuals. The Chief Guest at this virtual signing of the MoU was Dr. CN Ashwath Narayan, Minister for Higher Education, Electronics, IT, BT, Science and Technology, Skill Development, Entrepreneurship & Livelihood Department.

Dr. Narayan said, "Youth skill development is a priority for the Karnataka government." It promotes youth empowerment and entrepreneurship. Such collaborations go a long way toward constructing Atmanirbhar Bharat."

The president of BCIC, Sekar KR, said, "BCIC appreciates Brigade for creating this new opportunity and is glad to be a knowledge partner to the Brigade-BCIC Skill Development Academy (BBSDA)."

BCIC, with its diverse membership of over 880 firms and the wealth of expertise of its corporate executives, will be able to significantly contribute to the expansion of industries in Karnataka, in line with its theme "Namma Karnataka, Gateway to the future India." BCIC will provide academic and knowledge assistance for the Construction, Retail, Tourism & Hospitality, and Manufacturing industries. The BBSDA will give students and working professionals with opportunities to enhance their abilities in their respective fields. The objective is to establish a centre of excellence where training results in improved skills and productivity for industrial sectors. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for Industry and Institutions to collaborate in order to generate a better competent workforce and expand job prospects."
