Indian data centre provider Web Werks and NYSE-listed Iron Mountain Data Centres will invest approximately 1,400 crore to construct a large data centre in the Rabale neighbourhood of Navi Mumbai through their joint venture.

This will be Web Werks' seventh data centre in India, and its third in the Mumbai region. In addition to its two extant facilities in Mumbai, the company has built data centres in Pune, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Noida over the past two years.

The proposed data centre will be a tier-3 design capable of supporting 32 MW of IT demand. It is anticipated to launch in the second half of 2025. The organisation has already acquired a 5-acre parcel of land for the proposed development.

"We are thrilled to be rapidly expanding our data centre campus in Mumbai by procuring land for our third facility in one of India's most significant data centres.

This investment reflects our commitment to build highly connected, secure, and compliant data centres in India to serve our hyperscale, network, content, and enterprise customers, as stated by Iron Mountain Data Centres EVP and global general manager Mark Kidd.

The data centre campus has also received sanction for an additional 120 MVA-capacity power substation that can be used to expand the total capacity in the future.

We have strategic objectives for the remainder of the year. We have signed multiple agreements with the Karnataka and Telangana governments to set up data centres in Bengaluru and Hyderabad, positioning us as market leaders in co-location solutions for hyperscalers and enterprise customers', said Nikhil Rathi, CEO of Web Werks.

According to him, the company is also elevating the standards of its solutions with its sophisticated infrastructure for hosting, cloud-on-ramp, network, and security. Web Werks is expanding with new Chennai and Kolkata data centre facilities.

The Navi Mumbai data centre will be located in close proximity to the highly interconnected carrier hotel MUM-1 and the recently opened MUM-2 facility, a purpose-built greenfield data centre with a 6 MW IT capacity.
