Web Werks Joins Hands with Iron Mountain

Web Werks, an Indian data centre builder and operator, has collaborated with the United States-based Iron Mountain Data Centers to spend 7,500 crore by 2026 in developing data centres in India's key cities. Currently, the corporation has three data centres in Mumbai, Pune, and the National Capital Region, with ambitions to increase their capacity from 40MW to 200MW.

Expansion into multiple cities across India

They want to expand to cities like Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Noida. According to Web Werks co-founder and CEO Nikhil Rathi, the company has a sizable investor pool, including a significant bank and individual investors. While they have access to hyper scalers and other resources, Iron Mountain may also contribute to the investment.

USD 100 Million Investment done already

Web Werks has already invested $100 million (825 crore) to buy eleven property sites in major cities. The majority of the investment will be financed by lease rental discounting, and the projects will be finished by 2026. In 2020, the firm launched two data centres in Delhi and Pune during the same week, making it the first company in the world to accomplish this feat. The company's long-term objective is to become a major participant in the data centre sector.

Strategic Alliance with Iron Mountain

Web Werks engaged into a strategic agreement with Iron Mountain, an American business information management services provider, in 2021. Iron Mountain will invest $150 million over two years as stock in Web Werks, boosting the company's development strategy.

India's data centre to cross 20 million sqft by 2025

According to a report by commercial real estate services firm Colliers, India's data centre stock is expected to double by 2025, from the current 10.3 million sq ft to approximately 20 million sq ft, making data centres in India an attractive growth opportunity for global institutional investors and leading developers.
