Taurus to Construct Mixed-use Developments in India

Taurus Investment Holdings, a corporation located in the United States, intends to create retail-centric mixed-use developments across India.

The firm's first mall development, Taurus Downtown, would be situated in Trivandrum, have a development area of 1.3 million square feet, and cost 1 billion.

The firm will concentrate on tier 1 and tier 2 cities in South and West India, with a special emphasis on secondary cities such as Trivandrum, Visakhapatnam, Coimbatore, Bhubaneswar, and Trichy. Taurus and its partner Sage Capital also want to collect 500 crore from domestic investors via an alternative investment fund (AIF) in order to participate in the Indian real estate market.

According to Colliers India, institutional investment in Indian real estate reached a new peak in 2022, accounting for 18% of overall inflows. Global firms like as CPPIB and Nexus Mall, funded by Blackstone, have shown interest in the retail development industry in India.

It is anticipated that India's first retail REIT would be listed in 2023, giving investors with expanded investment choices.
