The Kerala cadre IAS officer has officially assumed the leadership role at India's premier International Financial Services Centre, replacing Tapan Ray who completed his successful five-year tenure in mid-July.

Sources confirmed that Sanjay Kaul, a distinguished administrative officer from the 2001 Kerala cadre, has been appointed as the Managing Director and Group CEO of Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City). The appointment became effective from July 21, marking a significant leadership transition at India's commercial real estate hub.

The new appointment comes as Tapan Ray concluded his tenure after steering the organization since 2019. Industry experts noted that Ray's leadership period witnessed substantial growth in GIFT City's international recognition and business partnerships.

Prior to this appointment, the senior officer served as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Culture. His Gujarat connection includes significant leadership roles, particularly as Managing Director at Gujarat Informatics Ltd and the Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Ltd, providing him with valuable insights into the state's administrative and business ecosystem.
