Kavaratti, Lakshadweep

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently launched and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth more than INR 1,150 crore in Kavaratti, Lakshadweep.

This ambitious endeavor spans a variety of sectors, including technology, energy, water resources, healthcare, and education, aiming to significantly enhance the region's infrastructure and quality of life.

Central to these initiatives is the Kochi-Lakshadweep Islands Submarine Optical Fiber Connection (KLI-SOFC), which is poised to significantly boost internet connectivity. Also noteworthy is the establishment of a low-temperature thermal desalination (LTTD) plant, a critical step in ensuring sustainable water management.

Another major highlight is the introduction of piped water supply to every household, marking a significant improvement in the standard of living for the local populace.

Further, the Prime Minister underscored the ecological importance of Lakshadweep and unveiled plans to elevate the region's status in the global tourism arena through the Swadesh Darshan scheme. These efforts are not just infrastructural but are also aimed at preserving the unique natural beauty of the area while promoting sustainable tourism.
