The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is likely to open the 20 km-long stretch of the Yellow and Red metro lines of the Mumbai Metro in October 2021. The stretch will provide the people access to 18 stations in total.

In a major revelation, the 20 km-long stretch of the Yellow Line 2A and Red Line 7 of the Mumbai metro are likely to become operational by October 2021. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) will open these stretches phase-wise, giving the residents access to 18 stations.

While Yellow Line 2A runs between Dahisar and DN Nagar, the Red Line 7 is between Dahisar East and Andheri, along the Western Express Highway. However, the stretches that will open are between Kamraj Nagar and Dahisar on Line 2A. On the Red line, the stretch between Dahisar and Aarey Colony will become operational in the first phase. The work of overhead wires and control centre for this phase has already been completed. Moreover, the prototype train set for the stretch between Kamraj Nagar and Aarey is ready for dynamic trials, which is initially planned for May 31, 2021.

While the commercial public operations on the Phase 1 section is likely to begin in October 2021, complete operations are expected to begin by the end of this year.
