MCD's SUNIYO Property Tax Amnesty Scheme Now Extended Through December 2025
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has announced a three-month extension for its property tax amnesty initiative, now allowing homeowners until the final day of December 2025 to clear outstanding dues under relaxed conditions. The scheme, officially known as Sumpattikar Niptaan Yojana 2025-26, was originally scheduled to conclude on September 30, but has been granted additional time to accommodate more taxpayers.
Revised Fee Structure for Extended Period
According to the updated guidelines, property owners making payments during the October to December window will be charged a 2% late fee calculated on the principal tax amount. All other provisions of the scheme remain unaltered from their original terms.
Strong Response Since Launch Reflects Growing Compliance
The amnesty program has witnessed significant participation from Delhi's property-owning community since its implementation on June 1. Official data reveals that more than 1.16 lakh taxpayers have registered under the scheme, contributing revenue totaling ₹370.27 crore to the civic body's coffers. Notably, nearly 65,874 of these registrants represent first-time taxpayers who opted to come forward under this initiative. Overall Tax Collections Show Upward Trajectory
The broader property tax collection figures for Delhi demonstrate substantial growth during the current financial year. The corporation has gathered ₹2,111.63 crore from 11.63 lakh taxpayers, representing a 22.5% increase in collections and an 18% expansion in the taxpayer base compared to the same period in the previous year. Strategic Initiative to Boost Revenue Mobilization
Through this extension, the municipal corporation seeks to encourage additional property owners to regularize their tax status while simultaneously advancing its revenue mobilization objectives. The move is expected to bring more defaulters into the tax net while providing relief to those facing financial constraints in settling their arrears.
