Mathura Metro (Mathura Metrolite) project is a mass rapid transit system (MRTS) proposed to be built in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh by Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC).

This Light Rail Transit (LRT) project aims to connect Shri Krishna Janam Bhoomi in Mathura and Vrindavan with an approximately 12 km long elevated viaduct.

Mathura Metro’s feasibility report was prepared by Feedback Infra. The project’s Detailed Project Report (DPR) has not yet been prepared.

Mathura Metro’s route has not been finalized. Project details (length, alignment, number of stations, station names) will emerge only after the DPR’s first draft is ready.

An official PDF route map will be added here when available.

Tenders & Major Contractors

Mathura Metro’s tenders aren’t yet available as the project’s DPR has not been finalized or approved.

Key Updates to Add:

  1. Alternative Proposals Considered

    • In late 2023, local residents raised environmental and logistical concerns about the proposed railway line between Mathura and Vrindavan.
    • As a response, authorities are considering alternative transit solutions, including an elevated railway or Metrolite system.
  2. Government Interest in Metro Lite Projects

    • The Uttar Pradesh government has expanded its interest in 'Metro Lite' systems for cities like Varanasi, Ayodhya, and Mathura.
    • This indicates that the Mathura Metrolite project remains under consideration, even if official DPR approvals are still pending.
  3. Status of the Detailed Project Report (DPR)

    • The DPR has not yet been finalized or approved, delaying key milestones like route alignment, funding, and station locations.
    • Once the DPR is drafted, details about the route, station locations, and estimated project costs will be available.
  4. Expected Next Steps

    • The project's future depends on approvals from the Uttar Pradesh state government and funding allocations.
    • Authorities are likely to conduct further consultations with local communities and stakeholders to refine the project's design.
