A major digital push has been made in Maharashtra’s cooperative housing sector, as the state government has enabled online applications for deemed conveyance. Beginning this week, housing societies can initiate the entire process digitally through a newly launched portal, reducing the need for physical visits to government offices.
New Portal Marks Shift Toward e-Governance
The state cooperation department has introduced a dedicated portal named PRATYAY MahaBhumi as part of its e-governance initiative. Officials indicated that this system would allow over 70,000 eligible cooperative housing societies to complete the full procedure—from document submission to certification—through an online platform.
The portal is set to handle every step of the deemed conveyance process, including uploading of documents, verification, scheduling of hearings, and issuance of final orders. The system is expected to go live next week.
Six-Month Timeline Set for Completion
According to the new framework, the entire deemed conveyance process is to be concluded within six months. Authorities clarified that while all required documentation must be uploaded online, hearings may still be conducted in-person when necessary. Physical submission of documents will not be entertained, and all official communications, including hearing schedules, will be managed digitally.
Move Seen as Boost to Single-Window Reform
Industry observers believe the initiative represents a step forward toward achieving a genuine single-window system in the cooperative housing sector. It is also aligned with broader goals to simplify administrative procedures and enhance the ease of doing business in the state.
The digital platform is expected to bring time efficiency and procedural clarity for citizens, housing society representatives, and government officials alike.
