The state revealed that the renovation initiative would receive equal funding contributions from two key departments. The Plantation Department and the Labour Department's Plantation Workers Relief Fund have each committed ₹2 crore toward the project, while the District Construction Centre has been tasked with executing the construction work within the stipulated timeline.

Long-Awaited Relief for Former Tea Estate Residents

Authorities stated that the housing program addresses decades of neglect faced by residents of the former Bonaccord Tea Estate. The government noted that many families, primarily descendants of migrant workers from Tamil Nadu, have endured substandard living conditions since the estate ceased operations more than twenty years ago. Officials emphasized that these communities have also struggled with irregular wage payments and delayed pension disbursements over the years.
