The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) announced on July 21, 2025, that it had successfully collected approximately ₹269 crore in property tax from commercial establishments operating within Mumbai's slum settlements for the first time in the civic body's history.

BMC collected a record ₹5,847 crore in property tax over nine months in 2024, with December alone contributing ₹2,501 crore. Strategic campaigns and extended office hours boosted collections, with the western suburbs leading contributions.

February 2024 saw record property registrations in Mumbai's real estate market. Under the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) authority, 12,040 units were registered by 8 p.m. on Thursday, with predictions of a little rise.
