Maharashtra government raises rent allowance from ₹20,000 to ₹30,000 for tenants displaced from dangerous cessed buildings in Mumbai. MHADA addresses housing shortage with enhanced support during monsoon season safety concerns.

In a move to accelerate rehabilitation, MHADA has lowered charges for extra space allotment to 100% of RRR for eligible cessed building residents, applicable from December 2023 onwards.

MHADA is set to redevelop 13,000 aging cessed buildings in South Mumbai, starting with a structural audit of 1,000 properties by March. This initiative aligns with Maharashtra’s 100-day action plan, aiming to ensure safety and improve living conditions.
