Mumbai's Air Quality Index has reportedly deteriorated significantly over the past week, with experts attributing the spike to widespread construction activities, heavy vehicular emissions, and unfavourable weather patterns trapping pollutants near ground level across the city.

The Bombay High Court has raised serious concerns over Mumbai's deteriorating air quality, with AQI levels frequently crossing 300 and entering hazardous territory. The court is pressing civic authorities to implement Delhi-style GRAP measures to address the pollution crisis affecting public health.

The NGT has directed a ready-mix concrete plant in Pune's Wadgaon Budruk to pay ₹29.68 lakh environmental compensation for prolonged pollution violations affecting nearby residents and a school.
