Mumbai's Air Quality Index has reportedly deteriorated significantly over the past week, with experts attributing the spike to widespread construction activities, heavy vehicular emissions, and unfavourable weather patterns trapping pollutants near ground level across the city.

The Slum Rehabilitation Authority has issued notices to 170 construction projects across Mumbai for violating air pollution mitigation norms, with Dahisar, Malad East, and Bhandup being the most affected areas. Developers have been given 15 days to comply or face construction shutdowns.
