Nashik - After almost six months, the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has resumed online filing and approval of construction plan applications.

The local authority took the procedure down in October last year in response to a mandate from the state urban development department about software concerns.

Officials from NMC's town planning department confirmed that the online system has been launched, but just a few construction plan applications have been filed in the last 20 days.

Additionally, NMC officials said that there were requests from architects and builders to start the offline process due to technical difficulties with the software used to submit bids.

Nilesh Chavan, a senior management consultant and former chairman of the Indian Institute of Architects' Nashik section, said that the majority of builders had previously filed their project designs during the previous fiscal year.

"December 31, 2021, was the deadline for premium price concessions and also the deadline for online submission of construction plans," Chavan said.

"As a result, more than 3,000 construction plan ideas were filed in December alone. We applaud the local body's decision to relaunch the online procedure for submitting and approving development designs. However, it should be completely error-free. Additionally, no human intervention should occur throughout the submission to approval process using online software," Chavan emphasised.

Meanwhile, the city authority accepted nearly 5,000 construction permit applications during the previous fiscal year.
