The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Board (MHADB) is scheduled to get 5,000 dwelling units from 65 residential projects that developers had been unable to deliver to the board for over 10 years.

Mhada has received 1,268 units from 27 builders. The state housing department had requested information from the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) on the number of apartments transferred to Mhada for individuals from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) under the 20% reservation category in major projects above 4,000 square metres.

The NMC's town planning department sent notices on 118 builders and developers requesting information on 65 housing projects completed between 2013 and 2014. The NMC has instructed these builders to provide all required information to Mhada and demonstrate compliance.

In November 2013, the state government mandated a 20% reservation for low-income households in housing developments larger than 4,000 square metres in cities with a population of more than 10 lakh.
