Goa electricity officials take action under land revenue law to recover pending HT connection arrears

Action Taken on Non-Payment of Power Dues

In a strong move against defaulting industrial power users, the electricity department in Goa has ordered the attachment of Twenty First Century Iron & Steel Pvt Ltd’s property in Dhargal, Pernem. This came after the firm failed to clear dues amounting to ₹2.7 crore linked to its high tension (HT) electricity connection.

Property Attachment under Goa Land Revenue Code

According to the department, the pending amount qualifies for recovery under the Goa Land Revenue Code, 1968. As per the order issued by revenue recovery officer and executive engineer William J Barreto (Div-XVII, Mapusa), the company’s 23,000 sq m property has been barred from being sold, transferred, or gifted until further notice.

Public Warning Issued

Additionally, a directive was issued warning the public against accepting or acquiring the attached property in any manner.
